"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without." — William Parrish

Weddings are a sign of true love, a chance to follow your heart and marry your best friend, and a huge event in your life. The union between two people is celebrated all around the world by friends and family and those celebrations are documented by photographers. So, it's not surprising that when it comes to planning a wedding, it can be stressful and daunting. I am here to help you with giving you 5 reasons why you should hire a professional photographer and cross one thing off your long list.

1. Professionalism Matters

When it comes to your big day, you want to make sure you hire a professional! That means signing a contract with the details of your wedding and the price you will pay. This contract will also go over cancellation details in case you need to reschedule or cancel your wedding all together (thanks COVID-19). You can also know that a professional photographer is not going to come to your wedding as a guest and miss out on candid shots because they are mingling with guests, but as a hired vendor, which means they will dress the part to stay unnoticed, be able to help with your wedding timeline and deviate from that timeline if needed, and talk to your family and friends without causing any issues. A photographer will be stealthy moving around the ceremony and reception capturing candid and posed shots to fill your gallery. You want someone that knows what they are doing and know how to talk to people in case one of your guests approaches them. That brings me to my next point.

2. Experience is Key

Have you ever been to a wedding or seen photos from a wedding where the photographer was just a friend with a nice camera? Sometimes they aren't great photos and you don't want to have to argue with Uncle Joe about certain photographs you want on your special day. They will know how to pose you and your new partner to get the most flattering photos and also give you variety and spontaneity in your gallery so you don't have the same "smile at the camera" shots the whole time. An experienced photographer also wears many hats including a crowd wrangler, a stylist, a hair fixer, dress bustler, and boutonniere dresser. Your photographer will be with you all day so they have experience on all things wedding related! You want to be able to count on them for anything.

3. Knowledge is Power

Weddings can happen any time of day or night and in any weather, so a professional photographer will be knowledgeable in their field. They have expensive cameras because those cameras can work better in different situations, but you need a professional who knows how that camera actually works. A professional will know different poses for each person or group, understand how light can change the mood of a photograph, and can capture the personal candid moment between you and your sweetheart.

4. Confidant

Your photographer will be your BEST FRIEND on the day you get married. They are with you from the time you arrive to the venue for hair and make up to the end of the reception when you and your sweetie leave for the night. It's important that you feel comfortable with your photographer and can tell them everything you want (or are hoping for before the big day). The photographer will be someone that can handle stressful situations if something were to go wrong. Ultimately, you want to trust that your photographer knows what they are doing so that at the end of the day you get beautiful photos of your day.

5. Photographs are Your Keepsakes

At the end of the night, the photos that your photographer takes and delivers to you are the only thing you will have to look back on your wedding day. You will be packing away your wedding dress for safe keeping, the cake and food will be eaten, the flowers will wilt, and your family and friends will go home. A professional photographer will produce quality photographs that will last forever! Check out my Wedding & Special Events Portfolio for some pose inspiration for your wedding day!

Your wedding photographer should be able to handle anything you throw at them, so if you have a specific request, ask them. They may just be able to help you with your request! So book your wedding photographer and take piece of mind that one thing is checked off your planning list.
