Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I book an engagement session?

A: You can either fill out the form on the Contact page, or you can email me at

Q: What if I don't have a location in mind for the photo shoot; will you recommend

A: I have some locations that I recommend for different types of photo shoots. We can always discuss different options that might work for your session.

Q: What if the weather is bad the day of my photo shoot?

A: The great thing about photography is that it can be done in any weather! If there is rain predicted for your outdoor shoot, we will wait until the day of to see how bad the rain is or bring an umbrella and use the rain to play in. Chances are there will be a period of time without rain that we can use for your photo shoot. If we are rained out, then we can reschedule your session within 7 days at no charge.

Q: What should I wear for my maternity photo shoot?

A: You should wear something that you feel beautiful in. If that is jeans and a tee shirt, then wear that. Mom's often want to be photographed in a gown to accentuate their growing belly and feel beautiful. You may purchase a gown for your photo shoot if that is what you prefer or use one of the studio gowns.

Q: What happens if my baby doesn't stop crying in the newborn photo shoot?

A: During my education, I have learned a variety of techniques to soothe a fussy baby, but if baby is not having a good day, we will try feeding, changing, and relaxing before we continue the photo shoot. The hourly limits on the session guidelines are there as an estimate, and sometimes need to be flexible to cater to baby.

Q: Should I bathe my horse right before the photo shoot?

A: A clean horse makes for beautiful, shiny photographs. You should expect to bathe your horse the day before, or the morning before your session and allow enough time for your horse to dry. You want to apply any hoof dressing or coat shine at least twenty minutes before your session to allow enough time for drying (do not wipe the coat shine after spraying).

Q: Can I ride bareback without my helmet for some photos?

A: Riding in your session is completely up to you, though if you do choose to ride, you should follow the guidelines of your barn regarding safety and helmets.

Q: What if my horse is misbehaving or lame, can we reschedule?

A:  If your horse is having a bad day or is misbehaving, I will do my best to continue with the shoot. Photo shoots need to be rescheduled 24 hours in advance, but in the event your horse is injured, we can reschedule the photo shoot with a 50% deposit.
